While doing a little photo-grazing on Flickr for Texas Fried Pickles I happened to stumble across the Acadiana Cafe. They were at one of the many festivals around the state and serving some genuine Cajun style food out of their trailer... or at least that is what the photo description said. I made a note of it and last week I found myself in San Antonio, where their main restaurant is, and decided to hit them up for some fried delights and a few cold beers.
The pickles were perfectly sliced and breaded and reminded me heavily of the ones I get locally over at the Texan Cafe up in Hutto. Crunchy, yet still juicy. The one thing that differed with these however was the seasoning - or lack there of. When I get a good, well seasoned pickle I usually can take or leave the side of ranch. These however called for a light dunking in the homemade (and exceptionally delicious) ranch dressing. It's quite a shame too as these pickles were just crying out for some good Cajun seasoning.
All in all, still a extremely solid pickle that was fried to perfection. Just make sure you get a side or two of ranch!
