Type Of Cut: Chips

This crazy place is located just along I-20 after crossing the Texas / Louisiana border. What was originally a stop for a cold beer coming back from a long road trip to Ashville, NC, turned into a fried pickle and cajun fried catfish extravaganza! Well, maybe not an extravaganza so much, but the catfish was damn tasty and all you could eat. Sadly, there was no beer to be had in the entire establishment - for shame!
It had been several days since my last gobbling (B.B. King's in Memphis on my way to Ashville) so seeing these on the menu was a welcome sight, especially after the massive let down of having to order a soda to drink.
The pickles were sliced, more on the crunchy side than chewy, albeit a little greasy towards the bottom of the basket. The one thing that pulled these chips into the 3.0 territory and kept them from just being average was when I gave them a healthy dusting with the same cajun seasoning that they used on the fish.
They were served with ranch but if I recall, I pilfered various other dipping condiments from the salad bar to try as well as tartar sauce. The tarter sauce was full of win and really put some zing back in the flavor which would have paired nicely with a cold Shiner Bock.
